Nilshan (Dr Ariyarathna) is a local Australian-trained consultant cardiologist living in Wollongong. After graduating from the University of NSW, he completed physician training at Royal Prince Alfred and St. Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney. He underwent additional study at the University of Sydney where he completed a Masters of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology.
He underwent twelve months of specialist training in General Medicine followed by Adult Cardiology training at Sutherland Hospital, Sydney, and The Canberra Hospital. Nilshan spent twelve months leading Sutherland Hospital’s Rapid Access Clinic for chest pain.
Nilshan provides a comprehensive service to the South Coast, NSW including ECG, holter monitoring, echocardiography, exercise stress testing, stress echocardiogram and transoesophageal echocardiography.
Nilshan’s special interests are in advanced cardiovascular imaging, ischaemic heart disease and preventative cardiology.
Nilshan has published widely in several national and international journals including Heart Lung and Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm. He has been invited to present his research at national and international scientific meetings. Nilshan provides patients with the latest evidence-based treatment options.
